OrthodonticsWhy is orthodontics important?

Orthodontics can boost a person's self-image as the teeth, jaws and lips become properly aligned, but an attractive smile is just one of the benefits. Alleviating or preventing physical health problems is just as important.

Without treatment, orthodontic problems may lead to to tooth decay, gum disease, bone destruction and cheweing and digestive difficulties. A "bad bite" can contribute to speech impairments, tooth loss, chipped teeth and other dental injuries.
The purpose of the first orthodontic visit (around age 7) is to evaluate whether changes in the child's skeletal pattern are needed. If changes are needed, we can make plans to begin treatment at the ideal time. There are several advantages to early treatment. If detected early, harmful habits can be corrected to avoid further, more extensive treatment and early treatment often has higher quality results than adolescent or adult treatment.

Is it ever too late for a person to get braces?

OrthodonticsMost people think that orthodontic treatment is just for children. The truth is, people of all ages, including adolescents and adults receive orthodontic care for healthier teeth and gums, improved chewing from properly aligned teeth and increased confidence from aesthetically pleasing teeth. Dr. Cassimatis is able to combine orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry to achieve remarkable results for patients.
To complement his work with orthodontics and Cosmetic Dentistry, he has also studied Neuromuscular Dentistry. This means that he takes into consideration how the jaw position affects the surrounding muscle and nerve tissue, resulting in the overall well-being of the patient. This in turn impacts on the overall success of the treatment.

How long will it take?

Every treatment is different, but as a rough guide treatment will take between 6 to 30 months.

How much will it cost?

Costs vary by the length of treatment, and also by the type of treatment used. A written quote is provided before treatment starts. An initial deposit is paid and then a monthly payment plan is available for the duration of the treatment.
